Quality and Material
Hand painted wall art
All the hand painted wall art is manufactured with high quality materials. We fully believe in our manufacturing concept. All pieces of wall art -named Pictures.xxl- are hand made in our workshop. The entire process: frame erection & wooden stretcher bars to designing & paint application to dispatch . . . all is hand-made by our team here in Potsdam. Through the past years we have gained more than enough experience in the creative field. To demonstrate the exceptional quality of our wall art, we have presented a small selection below: an overview of our products. We only use high-quality acrylic paints and structure pastes, applied on professional artist's canvas. All wall art is stretched on a wooden frame, ready to hang on your wall.
Wooden stretchers
We obtain our wood from our contracted carpenter's workshop. The wood is used only after an adequate drying time, so as to prevent any further shrinkage of the wood. This would lead to unwanted warping of the canvas later on. If wood of lesser quality is used, or too early, an additional warping effect may occur in dry rooms, especially during winter. We provide you with expert advice ( also by Video ), should such problems arise; even in case of a purchase not directly from our company we will be of assistance via available Video.
Professional artist's canvas
The differences in canvas quality are remarkable. Over time we have narrowed down our choice to "heavy-grade" 340g/sq.m artist's canvas, which has proven to be the right choice. We try to ensure that the factors flexibility and robustness are well-balanced. The desired ratio of 25% cotton and 75% ployester has become our final choice which after so many years we have not regretted.
Acrylic paints and structure pastes
The colour used is certainly one of the most important factors for the longevity of a piece of wall art. We mainly use acrylic paints, and only those of highest quality. Their characteristics include very high pigmentation and longevity, so even after many years these paints will not lose their exceptional luminance. The same applies to our varnishes and structure pastes. Additionally, one can achieve great effects and high longevity with minor alterations and tricks, which we treat as company secrets. Without going into detail, we also use ingredients that only become noticeable in the long run.
One example: we may mention that by adding a small portion of latex paint to the base layer for our structure-motive pictures, it prevents possible tearing of the grounding but also retains the elasticity of the painter's filling. Even for future periods, ripping-and-tear effects can be avoided.
This little tour should demonstrate the high demands we set: for our products as well as ourselves. Be it hand painted wall art or modern art prints - quality always comes first. As site visitors, you will search in vain and with no result, if you should be seeking cheap, ordinary, or mass-produced wall art. However, what you will find is 100% self-designed and -manufactured by hand in the Potsdamer Studio.

Wooden stretchers
We obtain our wood from our contracted carpenter's workshop. The wood is used only after an adequate drying time, since we want to prevent any additional warping of the wood. This would lead to unattractive warping of the canvas later on. If wood of lesser quality is used, or if used too early, additional warping can occur in dry rooms especially during the wintertime. Of course we can provide you expert advice how to deal with such a problem, should it have occured with a piece of wall art you have acquired. Even if you did not buy it from our shop, we are pleased to help you.
Professional artist's canvas
The difference in canvas quality can be huge. We have decided to use only heavy 380g/m2 artist's canvas, which has proved to be the right choice. We take care of maintaining a well-balanced ratio of flexibility and robustness. The canvas consists of 35% cotton and 65% ployester. Even after many years, we have not regretted our choice.
Pigmented inks
The pigmented inks used certainly are one of the most important factors for the longevity of a piece of wall art. We mainly use original inks of highest quality. Their characteristics include very high pigmentation and longevity, so even after many years these paints will not lose their exceptional luminance. After the printing we seal the canvas with two different lacquers. The first one stabilizes the pigments, the second seals the canvas. The ink layer is then not only resistant to abrasion, but also protected from desaturation and the effects of UV radiation. Furthermore, the lacquers will make the prints appear much deeper, distinguishing our high-quality products from other offers you will find on the web.
